FAQ
Funeral Services
Where do you hold the funeral services?
I conduct funeral services in funeral chapels, cemeteries, crematoria, graveside settings and any approved place that the family wishes.
What are the typical costs associated with a funeral service?
Presently the standard fee for a funeral service is $490.
Can you visit us to discuss the details?
I am more than happy to meet with the family at their home to discuss arrangements for a funeral. A home setting can provide much security and comfort at the time of death of a loved one.
What aspects of the funeral service do you take care of?
In meeting with a family to discuss the funeral service of a loved one, I listen to family members and friends about the deceased, gather information about the deceased and ask the family about the type of service they would like. I offer a series of readings, reflections and poems that form the basis of the service. I ask the family what is special to them about the deceased and what they would like. I am there to help and guide the family and friends to present a service that is in keeping with the wishes of both the family and the deceased.
Can you help us select music for the funeral service?
I can offer suggestions about music if that is required.
How much notice can we give friends and family about the funeral?
You are free to inform family, neighbours and friends about the death of a loved one. The Funeral Company will formally notify the death through the death and funeral notices in the press.
To what extent can we "personalise" the service?
It is most important to realise that the funeral service is YOUR celebration of the life of a loved one. I am there to help and guide you through a format that honours the life of the deceased and brings comfort to the mourners. Your suggestions, insights and tributes are the basis of the service.
Do you support pre-arranged funerals?
I am happy to come and make arrangments for a funeral service in a pre-arranged funeral.
Do you offer any discount pricing for pensioners?
Depending on circumstances, I offer a discount for low-income families and pensioners.
Grief and Loss Counselling
I have a friend who needs your help, can we arrange something?
Certainly. You can make contact by way of a phone call or email.
What can I gain from receiving from counselling?
A more balanced life where I take control of life, rather than life taking control of me. Benefits include a better mood, choices to make about my life, a change of lifestyle, better sleep, quality relationships and the desire to grow.
What does it normally cost for a typical series of counselling sessions?
My fees are $60 per 50 minutes. I do not offer Medicare rebates.
Can I receive help, in confidence?
You are treated with respect and courtesy and a willing ear and all matters are treated as confidential.
I just can't see how life could get any worse, can you really help?
Yes - change the way you see your life, and your life has the potential to change for the better.
Where do we meet for counselling?
I am happy to see you at my place or - if you prefer - I can visit you at your place or designated venue.
What is your approach to helping people like me?
My approach is first to listen, to ask questions and focus on the issues that have brought you to counselling. It is a process of trust, talking and healing.
